I have a BA in English and an MA in Comparative Literature, and I'm seriously considering a PhD. But I keep reading that humanities PhDs are in crisis and comp lit departments are being merged or downsized everywhere. At the same time I feel like the digital humanities angle and the growing interest in global/postcolonial literature could open doors. My research interest is in translation theory and multilingual modernism. Is anyone here in a comp lit PhD or recently graduated from one? What's the actual experience been like?
