So I took a gap year between undergrad and my PhD and honestly I go back and forth on whether it was the right call. On one hand I was SO burnt out after undergrad that I think I would have flamed out if I went straight in. On the other hand, coming back to student life after working and earning real money was... rough. Anyone else take a gap year? Did it help or hurt your application/motivation?
