I'm a junior pre med with a strong research background (2 publications, worked in a cancer bio lab for 3 years). I love research but also love the clinical side of medicine. MD PhD programs are obviously amazing but theyre 7 8 years minimum and insanely competitive. A straight PhD in bio would be 5 6 years and I could still do translational research. For anyone whos done either path do you think the MD part of MD PhD is worth the extra years? Or can you do meaningful biomedical research with just a PhD?
